Frequently Asked
Questions . . .
Do you offer sexual or
sensual massage?
No. I offer professional, therapeutic massage.
What experience do you have?
I’ve been practicing massage since 1996. I studied primarily at the
The
Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in Austin, one of the premier
massage schools in Texas. I’ve taken over 300 hours beyond the
Texas
Department of State Health Services licensing requirement, which is 500 hours. I have
many regular clients who appreciate my work.
Where are you located?
Massage sessions are generally performed in my home
(in-calls).
I
live in central Austin at the site of the old Mueller airport.
Directions may be found on my Contact Info page. I have a massage table
in an upstairs room set up just for massage. The atmosphere is nice and
calming.
Also,
I will travel with a massage table (out-calls) in the Austin area for
an additional $35.
Do you have other facilities available (shower,
hot tub, etc.)?
No. A restroom is available and located near the massage room. Please
shower before you arrive.
What do I wear during the massage?
Most clients remove their clothing. You may do what’s comfortable for you.
Draping options include a towel or sheet.
What are your sessions like?
First time clients should be prepared to complete a short questionnaire
upon arrival. This will help me tailor the massage to your needs.
Generally, I use a combination of
techniques during a massage session. Primarily, deep tissue or Myofascial Release is used along with Swedish strokes, stretching, Shiatsu, sports
massage, and trigger point therapy. If you have specific issues, I will
incorporate those areas along with a full-body massage. Sessions are tailored
to each client, so if you have special needs let me know each time you visit.
My typical work, Deep Tissue Massage,
means focusing on the connective tissue supporting muscle fibers to release
chronic muscle tension. The pressure is firm. At times it has been described
as “bittersweet” or “good pain.” It should never be painful. If I sense tense
areas, I usually ask about the pressure; however, please communicate your
comfort level at any time during the massage.
About half the session
is spent working on the back and then the other half on the front. Sometimes
side-lying work is required to address certain areas effectively.
What should I do before a massage?
- If you’ve been sweating a lot or working all day, it
would be nice to shower before you arrive.
- Think about what your expectations of the massage are
so you can share those once you arrive.
- Don’t eat or drink too much.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Plan to arrive on time. This will reduce your stress
level so you can relax as well as help me stay on schedule with other
clients.
- Please remove your
watch, rings and necklaces.
What do I need to do during the
massage?
- It’s best if you just relax and allow me to move your
head, arms, and legs as needed.
- Sometimes active assisted stretching is performed.
You will be given instructions if your participation is necessary for an
effective stretch.
- Breathe deeply, especially while I’m working on tense
or tight areas.
- Communicate your comfort level with the pressure and
room temperature.
What should I do after a massage?
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or stretching.
- Practice any stretches suggested during your session.
- Schedule regular appointments for optimal benefit,
especially for troubled areas.
Is there anything else I should know?
- Only cash is accepted.
- If you have a music preference, let me know. You are
also welcome to bring your own music.
- I appreciate your feedback. If there is something you
especially liked or disliked about the massage, feel free to share that with
me.
